Work carried out between 1680-1690, probably commissioned from the artist by the Sevillian Jesuits to evoke the episode that occurred in Rome in 1580 when the then Duke of Gandía, future Saint Francis of Borja, was received at the doors of the Professed House in Rome with the intention of being accepted into the Jesuit Order.
