Born in Venezuela in 1968 and currently living in Spain, the name of Pedro Sandoval is currently closely associated with abstract neo-expressionist movement and is the creator of the PENTA-ABSTRACTIONISM movement worldwide. His artistic gifts manifested themselves from a very early age and he received his first recognition at just six years old, when he was awarded the Young Master of the World prize at the contemporary art triennial in the Japanese city of Osaka. He is the only artist in the world who has won the Lorenzo el Magnifico prize twice at the Florence Biennale in 2015 and 2019. His remarkable qualities led him to be part of the prestigious group of the Cristobal Rojas art school, in his native Venezuela, where he was trained in the main artistic disciplines. Then he moved to New York City where he studied at Parsons school of New York. Being considered the best student by the great master creator of the expressionist movement Willem de Kooning. During his evolution, Pedro Sandoval has dealt with both figuration and abstraction, and has trained and worked alongside internationally recognized great masters such as Oswaldo Vigas and Jesús Rafael Soto. In the 1980s, his continuous trips to Germany led him to work closely with the most recognized figures of German neo-expressionism such as Georg Baselitz, Sigmar Polke or Anselm Kiefer, together with whom he became part of what Wolfrang Becker called the New Savages. , term with which those painters who were at the head of the movement were identified. In the year 2000 he moved to Madrid permanently. Currently, Pedro Sandoval focuses his research both on the new German avant-garde and on the work of North American abstract expressionists such as Hans Hofmann, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock or Cy Twonbly, among others. Today the works of Pedro Sandoval can be found in different museums around the world, as well as in large collections such as the White House, the Vatican Museums, the Kennedy family, the Thyssen-Bornemisza family, among others. . 200 x 150 x 20cm
