OLEA Genesis corresponds to the first unit of a cryptocurrency (OLEA) programmed by the artist and sold in the form of digital works certified as NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens). These NFTs give the file (in this case a video) the unique and original character thanks to blockchain technology.

This video shows us the representation of this cryptographic unit that has an extension in the natural world since the code of this cryptocurrency it is also stored in DNA (genetic code) and encapsulated in olive oil.

With this project, the artist has managed to connect, in a biological way, the economies of agriculture and raw materials together with the new economies related to the internet and blockchain, achieving a unique artistic project in the world (contract address 0xde0f13009af18fdc35d6d77d738c144f4591279a).

With Upon acquiring the work, the buyer also obtains the OLEA "token" within the blockchain, which means added value to this purchase. Solimán López has been the first artist in the history of Spain to sell an NFT at the ARCO contemporary art fair in its last edition of 2021.

Solimán López

Spanish artist who lives between France and Spain. His main artistic activity focuses on the interpretation of the social, ethical, moral, psychological, economic, sociological and artistic changes derived from the digital revolution and the application of new technologies in the common sphere.

Solimán also directs the Innovation laboratory at the Higher School of Art and Technology of Valencia and is the founder of the Harddiskmuseum in 2014, the first Museum of art history that lives on a 2TB hard drive full of works of digital art from more than 125 international artists. This Museum has also been the first in history to have a "backup" of its metadata stored in genetic code.

Solimán has exhibited his work internationally in various countries, highlighting his participation in the Digital Art Biennial of Brazil, the ZKM in Karlsruhe in Germany, the Asia Center of Gwanyu in South Korea, the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz in Austria, or the Codame Festival in Los Angeles among others.

He is currently investigating the biological relationships between blockchains and natural liquids such as olive oil. The OLEA project addresses these issues and will soon be presented at the kyiv Digital Art Biennale in Ukraine, the Share Festival in Turin, Italy or the Karachi Biennale in Pakistan.
