ROMANESQUE CRUCIFIED CHRIST. S. XIII
Important Romanesque wood carving in its color. S. XIII. Represented after expiring, with a coarse braided crown of thorns. The hair arranged on the basis of thick and rigid locks that fall on the back and right shoulder. The bearded face, triangular in profile, with a majestic expression. Globular and prominent eyes. Fine and elongated nose. Anatomy treated with a certain coarseness and archaism that characterizes the piece, notably marking the ribs, abdomen and part of the sternum. The arms with marked incipient muscles being nailed to the wrist as was common in medieval times. Very schematic cloth of purity held by a rope that is tied on the right side. Legs slightly bent with feet nailed, superimposing the right on the left.
Work that due to the verticality of its body, the summary of the facial features and the heratism of the composition bring us memories of Romanesque statuary, but in the study of the anatomy we see an attempt at naturalism typical of the nascent Gothic.
Coupled in a wooden urn box.
