"Dog on a pillow" has traditionally been attributed to Diego Velázquez and thus appears in the inventory of the Marqués de Casa - Torres collection in the chapter of works by Velázquez (1st epoch), with the number 12240. It is described as "Portrait of a dog on a pillow (Cean Bermúdez). Portrait d''''un chien sur un oreiller (Cean Bermudez)" and photographed at Pl 35.
Antonio Ponz , in Viage de España (1776), in the description of the Royal Site of Buen-Retiro, in the hallway next to the room of the Lords Infantes, it says that "by Velázquez there is a dog on a pillow" (volume VI, page 139 ).
Ceán Bermúdez, in his "Historical Dictionary of the Most Illustrious Professors of Fine Arts in Spain" (1800), in the chapter on the works of Velázquez, in Buen Retiro quotes "a dog on a pillow" r
