Important table clock as a wedding gift from Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom to Elizabeth II of Spain and Francisco de Asis de Borbón for their wedding in 1846. According to the family inventory, the piece arrived in Spain from the hands of Sir Robert Peel, British Prime Minister. , to be delivered to Queen Elizabeth. Later, in 1900, the piece was auctioned in Paris, where it was acquired by Mr. Conde de Malladas and after passing through several hands, it ended up in the collection of the current owners.
As a large-scale carriage clock, made of mercury-gilded bronze, with fine chiseling work after casting. Profusely decorated with high-relief figures of guardian children, mermaids and Neptune intertwined with seed beads and acanthus. On a matching base topped at the corners by four tritons. Glazed top, sides, front and back.
Dial with black enamelled Roman numerals inside the rail and below it, daily and weekly calendar. With central cartouche "French Royal Exchange London". On the back, machinery with an engraved plate of intertwined floral and vegetal motifs, also specifying watchmaker and manufacture. Chime with carillon of several bells, cylinder with melody and spiral rod. England, circa 1840.
On a wooden base from the Herraiz manufacture that preserves the engraved shield of the original base, with the arms of Isabel II and Francisco de Asis.
