Reflection of the high society of America and Europe, businessmen, artists, actors and gallery owners, are portrayed by Warhol. The scholar and influencer Robert Rosenblum goes so far as to name him "Court Painter of the 70s" in the catalog of the exhibition, "Andy Warhol: Portraits of the Seventies" (November 1979 - January 1980) that the Whitney Museum of American Art organizes in New York.

A universal Court, without borders, where the King is Warhol himself who reinvents the great tradition of portraiture that Titian, Velázquez, Goya and other great masters had enshrined in all European courts.

Between 1978 and 1987 Warhol produced the series Self-portraits, Oxidation Paintings, Shadows, Retrospective Paintings, Yarn, Camouflage, The Last Supper and his great collaborations with Basquiat, Clemente and Haring; a finale of glorious creativity that the exhibition Warhol The last decade (2009 - 2011) consecrates in its tour of four museums in the United States: Milwaukee Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Brooklyn Museum and The Baltimore Museum of Art.
