Historical photograph that was part of the mythical 46664 Concert held at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town (South Africa) on November 29, 2003. It was the first of a series of charity concerts held in different countries between 2003 and 2008 in honor of Nelson Mandela, to raise funds to benefit the fight against AIDS in Africa.
46664 is a symbol in Mandela''s life. 1964 is the year in which he entered Robben Island prison and he was prisoner 466 of that year, which is why he was identified with the number 466/64, a number he kept until his transfer to Pollsmoor prison in 1982 and which Mandela kept as a hallmark of their struggle. This concert featured, among others, Bono, The Edge, Anastacia, Beyoncé, Bob Geldof, Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor), Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens), Peter Gabriel, The Who, The Corrs, Soweto Gospel Choir, Eurythmics, Johnny Clegg, etc.
