To the extent that all antisocial behavior poses a threat to general well-being, the slightest hint of rebellion or attack against customs sets off the control mechanisms necessary to restore the order decreed by the ancestors. In this context, mask societies conjure up everything that does not comply with the rules or goes against established values, purifying the ritual space in which they intervene.
Ngon represents the female companion "first wife" of Kam. Together they lead the group of masks that wields power in the hands of kings, princes, and lineage chiefs. In the kingdom of Kom, holding the leadership of a secret society (mask group) is the most prestigious political distinction. So much so that it is the king''s prerogative, after consultation with the government council, to grant or deny the rights or appropriate existing ones, dishonoring the clans that own the masks.
The erosion produced on this mask for hundreds of years in use demonstrates their belonging to the royal clan, especially if we take into account the characteristic hairstyle of the princesses of the royal family and a certain resemblance to the effigy of the queen mother preserved in the palace, of which we provide a photograph.
