Mercury statue made of bronze. Rome S. II d. C. Represented in contraposto, with the weight on his right leg, while slightly bending the left. His head, with the winged petasos, turned to his right. He holds a pigskin bag of coins in his left hand. The right hand had the caduceus cast separately. His himation covers the left shoulder and covers the left forearm. The god Mercury was the son of Jupiter and Maia Maiestas. He was the messenger of the gods of Olympus, of borders and travelers who cross them, wit and commerce in general. 13.3cm
