"Still life of fish, flowers and fruit". ''Still Life with Flowers, Fruit and Fish Plate''. Oil on canvas. 45.5 x 52.5cm.

At the age of fifteen he entered Giuseppe Recco''s workshop as an apprentice, where he received a Caravaggesque education. He worked in Naples as a painter specialized in the composition of flowers and fruits, and in that of animals. Later he traveled to Rome, where in 1656 he appears as a member of the Academy of San Lucas, dedicating himself to painting according to the new currents of Nordic painting. A friend of observing nature and light contrasts, he was especially influenced by two Dutchmen, Matthias Withoos and Otto Marsaeus.

Museums where works by this artist can be found: Stockholm, Madrid (Prado) and Rome (Ghigi Albani Collection).
