MAGNIFICENT EGYPTIAN SARCOPHAGUS LID.
Egyptian sarcophagus lid. Low Season. 664-332 BC Made of polychrome wood that represents the deceased in the form of a mummy with a headdress decorated by a winged scarab that reaches the shoulder. She wears a usej necklace on her chest decorated with geometric and floral motifs that ends on her shoulders with falcon heads. Below appears, between two baboons, the boat with the divinities Knum, Amun and Horus. In the lower part of the sarcophagus, the god Anubis is represented on a funerary inscription, on each side of it, the four sons of Horus, who allude to the four canopic jars, with Amset and Kebeshenuef on the right (baboon and falcon respectively). Below, the feet of the deceased protrude and at the base a row decorated with floral motifs.
Small restorations in stucco and color but in an excellent state of conservation.
The inscription reads: "The King makes the offering to the god Osiris, First of the Occidental, great patron god who grants invocation and ox offerings".
