canopic jar Low epoch- Ptolemaic period

canopic jar Egypt. Low epoch - Ptolemaic period (664 - 332 BC). Made of stuccoed and polychrome wood in red with stylized Ankh symbols on the body. Lid in the shape of a human head (Imsety), son of Horus linked to the protection of the viscera of the deceased after embalming. Wooden canopic jars were part of the grave goods of people of a lower socio-economic level. Those used in the burials of upper class characters are made of carved stone. The wood allowed the stucco and later polychrome in bright colors. Small fractures. Good state of conservation. Measurements: 33 cm high.
