Cananite amphora clay

Terracotta wine amphora with a long neck. Belonging to the late phase of the Canaanite Bronze Age (1550-1200 BC). This container has a circular mouth with flared lips as well as a convex base. In its central part it has two oval and asymmetrical handles with a circular section. In the eastern Mediterranean of the Late Bronze Age, as a reflection of intense trade, certain types of ceramic transport and storage containers, such as amphorae, spread.

Acquired in an Israeli private collection in 2008. 21x17cm
