Herodian amphora with four handles

"Herodian amphora with four handles, 100 AD". Amphoras are spindle-shaped ceramic containers with two handles and a narrow neck, generally, although in some cultures they have been developed in metal or other materials. Normally they are finished in a point or even in a long protruding point that was used to stick them into the ground and keep them stable. Its precursors were the Greeks, although they soon spread throughout the Phoenician and Roman world, being used to transport liquids and food, as well as to store them. Normally they could contain a minimum of 25 to 30 liters, their shape being variable depending on whether they were carrying wine, oil, salted meat, cereals or other food.

Very good state of conservation.
