Persian islamic bronze oil lamp

"Islamic-Persian bronze high-base oil lamp, AD 100". The term candle comes from the Arabic qandîl, a word that derives from the Latin candle. Inheritors of the ancient Roman skylights, they were hand lamps that illuminated through the combustion of a vegetable fat such as oil. In addition to the important practical and functional sense of these objects, they had a symbolic value. The light represented Good and power over the darkness of the night, as the Koranic verses recall. Oil lamp in good condition, made of bronze, corresponds to the common type called spout and grooved bowl.

Good condition.
