CERVANTES SAAVEDRA, Miguel de.- "THE INGENIOUS HIDALGO DON QUIXOTE OF LA MANCHA" First part: M.: Royal Printing, 1668. 4th minor, perg. post. in the style of the time, labeled on the spine. 6 p.m. + 353 fl. + 3 hours Two parts in one vol. with consecutive foliate pagination. Tables of the chapters at the end of each of the parts. Exemplary magnificently restored, as part of the port is missing. of the first part as well as the rate; very well facsimile on 17th century paper. Palau 51995: "On the second cover they neglected to correct the year and it reads: By Mateo Fernández, Printer of the King our Lord. At the expense of Gabriel de León, Merchant of Books, 1662. There is another run of the same number, surely furtive, which is recognized in the worn typefaces and the use of v instead of u". The copy we offer seems to belong to this last print run. Throughout the Six hundred editions of Don Quixote followed one another with great public acceptance, judging by the number: at least 9 of the first part between 1605 and 1611; 3 of the second part in 1615 and 1616; and 13 ''legal'' of the complete works between 1617 and 1697. The one we offer, from 1668, could be considered the 7th edition of the First and Second parts together.
