"Burial crater, Apulia, 430-300 BC". Scroll funerary krater, Apulia, 430-300 BC



Decoration of red figures in the manner of the Baltimore Painter, with scroll-shaped handles and gorgon masks with traces of polychromy. On side A, the deceased is heroically presented on horseback, framed in a white naiskos. On side B, you can see the witnesses of the initiation transition to the afterlife presenting offerings. The rest of the body of the vase is decorated with acroteras in the form of palmettes and the chariot of the goddess Nike.



A piece with similar characteristics is in the collection of the National Archaeological Museum under the reference MAN-32667.
