Teresa Cruz Yabar situates the painting in a specific context within the life and work of El Hortelano: "[...] El Hortelano took part in the great exhibition that in Around this cultural current was held in La Coruña.He also rode the Madrid-Vigo train with all its representatives (singers, photographers, painters, etc.) and was called to participate along with Sicilia, Cristina Iglesias, Juan Muñoz and Javier de Juan at the exhibition Nuevos creadores at the UIMP in Santander, which included a musical performance called "Doctor Livingstone, I suppose", with Poch and Ouka Leele accompanying him.Shortly after, he was informed that he had obtained the Plastic Arts scholarship from the Hispanic American Committee to live and work in New York, and he moved to this city after inaugurating his sixth individual exhibition at the Moriarty Gallery, with his series «The forgiveness of sins».
