Spanish School 17th C. Noble portrait

"Portrait of Mr. J. Ochoa de Chinchetru, Marquis of Campotéjar". Oil on canvas. Coat of arms of the Marquesate of Campotéjar in the upper left corner with the motto "Servire Deo Regnare Est". Cartel in the lower right corner that reads: "Don Ju... of Granada, Ochoa de Chinchetru Marqués de Campotejar defender of the Royal Patrimony in the Kingdom of Sicily... his hedad 64 years Ma. 1640". The portrayed wears the Cross of Santiago on his attire.

It is possible to locate Don Juan de Granada Ochoa de Chinchetru, of the Order of Santiago, Marqués de Campo Tejar and Defender of the Royal Heritage in Sicily in the work "History of the Old College of S. Bartolomé, mayor of the famous University of Salamanca (1768)".

A portrait of the relative Bernabé Ochoa de Chinchetru is preserved in the Hispanic Society, New York, attributed to Juan Carreño de Miranda. 195x120cm
