Female figure Hellenistic Period 3rd BC

Rare female figure. Cast in cast, standing with weight on right leg, left leg slightly bent, dressed in a long chiton and draped himation, head slightly to the right, hair crowned headdresses. Fine work on the folds of the dress, adapted to the female body that demonstrate the quality of the sculptor. Greece. Hellenistic period. S: III BC



Conservation status: Superficial wear. Restoration on fracture lines on the neck and torso. Loss of material on hands. Good general condition considering its size.



This work belongs to the collection of Alexander Lolas (1908 - 1987), a well-known gallery owner of Greek-American art of Egyptian origin and a great collector of modern art, who launched the careers of René Magritte, Andy Warhol or Max Ernst among other artists. He established the modern model of the global art business, managing successful galleries in Paris, Geneva, Milan and New York.
