Funeral stone. Roman. 3rd C. BC

Carved limestone funerary stele with a rectangular lower part and a triangular gabled upper finial. Rome. Asia Minor. III AD The decoration is divided into two registers: the upper one with a scene related to the harvest (two nude male figures carrying a basket and what appear to be small garlands with fruit, flanking a lady in a tunic, who holds a disc in one hand and carries a staff or long staff in the other). The lower one presents, in a larger size, a figure dressed in a tunic, staring straight ahead, features and folds very schematized, as usual at the time, holding a bowl in one hand and with the open palm of the other facing upwards, accompanied by by two five-petaled flowers flanking its head. Perfect state of conservation. 53 x 29 x 13cm
