Flemish tapestry made of wool. Signed in the lower right corner E. Leyniers and in the lower left corner located in Brussels. Everaert Leyniers (1597-1680) was part of a lineage of Belgian upholsterers that lasted from the 15th century to the end of the 18th century. The initiator was the nephew of the artist Bernard Van Orley, a Flemish artist from whom different designs were taken for the realization of the tapestries. In addition to this, they were also closely linked to the work of Jacob Jordaens.
Everything suggests that this tapestry could correspond to an allegory of the months, work or the seasons of the year.
It represents different characters in a work attitude performing tasks related to the field. Mainly the mowing and gathering of wood for the construction of a roof framework, a scene that can be seen on the left side of the tapestry. All this takes place in a natural setting, in the manner of the popular scenes of the time.
