PHOTOGRAPHS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VALLEY OF THE FALLEN
Photographic montage of the area of the Sierra de Madrid where the basilica and monument of the Valley of the Fallen were built.
It consists of several aerial photographs of this area that were part of the graphic documentation of the project for the construction of the monument that represents the exaltation of victory in the recently ended civil war. The annotations on the back, in General Franco''s handwriting, as well as the drawings made by him on some of them to mark the site where the basilica and the monument of the cross of the fallen should be built, indicate the importance of these photographs for the development of this work that began to be built in 1940 and was inaugurated in 1957.
The lot consists of four images, three of them panoramic from the assembly of three juxtaposed photographs. We attach an article by Juan Ramón Iborra published in the Sunday magazine March 8-9, 2003 in which General Franco appears with D. Rafael Sánchez Mazas, minister without portfolio (1939-1940), in front of a photographic montage like the ones that They are part of this lot.
