"Roman marble sarcophagus fragment, 200-300 AD". The ancient Romans were great sculptors, especially in stones such as marble, being one of the arts that they developed the most. It represents Eros with plump features and short wings. Her angelic face is supported by her curly hair and a long shawl blowing in the wind, as she raises her arms to reach for the large fruits behind her.

Very good condition.

Provenance: American private collection, New York, acquired in 1980 .
