Gerard David. Liber Horarum

"LIBER HORARUM".- The original of which is preserved in the Library of the Royal Monastery of El Escorial. M.: Compañía Editorial Testimony, 1998. 8th, dry embossed full skin and nerves on the spine; metal closure. golden cuts. Presented in case ed. next to the vol. of studies. Limited edition numbered notarial deed. Contains 15 miniatures attributed to the great Flemish master Gerard David (1460-1523); The one of the Virgin with the Child stands out among all and was certainly made by David himself. All the miniatures have the characteristics of the Flemish altarpieces of the time, and offer a unique perspective of the working methods of the Flemish illuminators. Another important feature of this book of hours is that one of the miniatures is dated 1486 (miniature of Saint Lazarus) and therefore the book is among the first testimonies of Gerard David''s activity in Bruges, from 1484 onwards.
