"The disasters of war. Collection of eighty invented and etched plates". Madrid: Publish the R! Academia de Nobles Artes de San Fernando, 1863. 35 x 25 cm., landscape, full skin, wheel and golden counter-edges. Gold stamped letters. Irons and nerves in the spine. Gilded engraved edges and counter-edges. Lithographic cover, signed ''Lit. by J. Aragón'', one page of text, on both sides, in two columns, plus 80 ENGRAVED PLATES on strong womb paper, etching, with some contribution of drypoint and gouache, with sepia-tone ink. The paper on the cover has the characteristic watermark "EL ARTE EN ESPAÑA", like the paper, the watermarks of the palmette or shell, and the initials JGO (Jose García Oseñalde). This copy corresponds to the second series in which the corrected typographical errors of the titles of the prints already appeared (except for number 9, which is uncorrected). Below the title, on each print, an old handwritten annotation translating the title into French and German (a spelling used before World War II, currently out of use). FIRST EDITION of this magnificent collection of engravings that were published 30 years after the death of its creator, due to the crudeness of its images, and the political instability of the time.
