Independence War. manuscript

War of Independence. Count of Montijo.- Handwritten letter by Cipriano Portocarrero y Palafox, signed as "El Conde de Montijo", in Cuenca on August 8, 1808, about the political situation of the moment in Spain; he himself titled "Council of a Patrician": "...The division of the provinces of Spain is formed: whatever it was, it is authorized by our sovereigns and the entire nation has consented to it for a long period of time; if there were something to reform ... let''s finish off our enemies..."; "...if according to them the majority believes it is appropriate to appoint a President and that this is a Bourbon, do it in good time, if the majority judge otherwise, in the same way their resolution will be in any case the vote of the entire nation" ; "The urgencies of Aragon, the need to help the Captain General of that Kingdom, the love of the Homeland and military glory do not allow me..." Handwritten bifolio on three sides. Cipriano Portocarrero, liberal and Freemason, was one of the most notable aristocrats of the time; He fought on the Napoleonic side during the Spanish War of Independence.
