Phoenician clay jug

Phoenician terracotta jug, IV-III century BC, pyriform with a small circular mouth and flared rim. It presents a truncated cone-shaped body with a wide base. Decorated in reddish tones and with concentric circles. It has some surface wear to the paint on the top and bottom. Its narrow, straight and small neck is cylindrical in shape, with a single small sinuous handle with triple divisions emerging from its upper part.

The Phoenicians greatly influenced the wine culture of the Greeks and later on that of the Romans, thus influencing the European expansion of wine.
