This work is a portrait of the writer Ana Díaz, author of the book "Guía de Cortesanas en Madrid y Provincias", on whose cover she appears represented. On the last page of said publication, number 243, the dedication "I dedicate this book to Julio Romero de Torres, in painting, extreme; in kindness, without equal, who immobilized on the canvas the last splendors of my youth, before that it withered, holding time in the brief space of a cloth.- Spring of the nineteen hundred and twenty-one years...". Likewise, in autograph handwriting, on the second page, the following dedication appears in the book "to Julio Romero de Torres with all the affection of Anita (Asturias, August 12, 921)".
The portrayed woman translated the book "Carta de guía de casados" Francisco Manuel de Mello, 1916, and was also the author of "La entretenida indiscreta" from 1920.
