Samaritan lucern with menorah

"Samaritan lamp with menorah design, 500 AD". The skylights or ancient Roman lamps were small utensils, made of stone or terracotta and that the ancient Romans generalized to have artificial light. They were fed with olive oil and had from one to a dozen wicks. This skylight is decorated with the menorah, the oldest seven-branched candelabra and Jewish symbol. Its main meaning is the light of God''s presence among men. For others, it also represents the burning bush that spoke to Moses in the desert or the Tree of Life of the Judaic tradition.

Very good state of conservation.
