Shipwreck of the ship San Pedro de Alcántara.- Period manuscript on the shipwreck of the ship San Pedro de Alcántara. 6 p.m. Unnumbered, handwritten on both sides. Signed by Francisco Xavier Muñoz, between February 8, 1786, until May 18, 1787. The San Pedro de Alcántara was a ship of the Spanish Royal Navy launched in 1771, and which was shipwrecked in Peniche in 1786. "Satisfied with the King of the zeal, intelligence and activity of Your Excellency, you have served to place in your care the most important and delicate commission that can be offered, which is to save the Treasure and Cargo of the Ship San Pedro de Alcántara, shipwrecked on the Coast of Portugal... "; "The Ambassador of the King Count of Fernán Nuñez, after receiving the first news of that misfortune, although still without details, dispatched an express to Madrid and another to Cadiz..."; "Lisbon February 18 / The 2 frigates of SM Catolica la Asunción and Colón arrived from Cádiz to Peniche..."; "Lisbon March 9 / Peniche is notified that despite the fact that bad weather did not allow work from last 26 to this 2, and that when it is executed it is only with a diver, the following has been extracted from the wrecked ship ". Interesting testimony of the time and first hand, as Francisco Xavier Muñoz y Goosens, Port Brigadier in Cádiz, was in charge of rescuing the treasure from the sunken ship.
