The osculatory is a metal instrument, generally bronze or brass, which was made using the cast-in-mold technique, although the most elaborate ones had to be made using the molten wax method. From the preserved specimens it can be deduced that the typology is simple and with few differences in terms of shapes and dimensions.
It is made up of three parts: the ring, the central rod or stem, and the finial.
The ring is normally circular and round section. The union of the ring with the rod is made by means of a small reinforcement, almost always decorated, in the form of a prism.
The rod can also present a projection in its central part that can be simple, molded and even faceted. The rest of its decoration is usually simple, arranged radially and consisting of incised lines, alone or grouped into bundles.
The finials are the most significant part of the object. Depending on their decoration, we can divide them into three types: figurative ones, non-figurative ones, and those with a truncated pyramidal finish.
The former usually represent figures of animals, especially doves, but we also find roosters, dolphins, or horses. The specimens with human figures are rare.
Regarding the use of these objects, it is thought that they had a utilitarian function, either as toiletries, perfume removers, liturgical instruments or oil applicators consecrated to the sick. 19 cm. length
