"PEREGRINATIO IN TERRAM SANCTAM".- Whose original is kept by the National Library. Valencia: Vicent García Ed., 1995. Folio, perg. to the roman Case simulating enc. hello. Incunabula in which Pablo Hurus, in his workshop in Zaragoza, in 1498 offers the most richly illustrated edition of this text, which had already known important editions. He used wooden blocks from earlier editions based on Erhard Reuwich''s drawings. Seven unfolding panoramic views (the one representing the Holy Places measuring more than one meter in length) are used in this maguntine edition of 1486. The view of Rome only appears in this edition and is inspired by the one in the Liber chronicarum of H. Schedel, edition by A. Koberger, from 1493. Fourteen other engravings represent buildings, people in groups, animals and alphabets, and are framed with typically Spanish woodcut bands. A full-page engraving offers an allegorical representation of Mainz and 66 engravings recount evangelical events. The accounts of pilgrims who visit the Holy Land will be very appreciated texts and published in the following two centuries.
