Lot: 122
Roman lead weight with inscription

"Roman lead weight with inscription, AD 98-117". This square-shaped weight made of lead is cast in a mold. Due to lack of space, its inscription is marked in an abbreviated form, a very common characteristic in coins and weights from Roman times. Hadrian was a Roman emperor and was known as the third of the Five Good Emperors (Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius). His popularity as emperor is attested by the fact that Hadrian was absent from Rome for most of his reign.

Good state of preservation.
