Pierre Gonnord made several series of portraits that constitute one of the most important parts of his work: Interiors (Madrid, 1999), City (New York, 2001), Regards ( 2000-2003), Far East (Japan, 2003) and Utopians (2004-2005). In his series Witnesses (2006) he portrayed people of Roma ethnicity and people who have lived through the tragedy of the Balkans and North Africa.

In the words of Gonnord himself, his portraits: "they are not sad, poor, or depressed people They are powerful beings. Their looks tell a story, they transmit the life behind an apparently serious human façade. Their seriousness does not prevent them and the person who looks at them from celebrating life through art.". 165x125
