A Frenchormolu mantel clock. Felix Chopin 19th C

Important table clock in the Louis XVI style made of mercury-gilt bronze. Porcelain dial with Roman numerals and signed: F. Chopin and St. Petersbourg.

The upper part, richly decorated with a medallion where Omphale is represented. This one, surrounded by the weapons of Hercules: the skin of the Nemean lion, the olive mallet, a laurel branch and a flag.

In the central part, a classic urn that holds the sphere, flanked by two stipes and surrounded by laurel.

The base with scroll decoration and supported by four mythological dolphins.

The clock with Paris-type machinery, possibly by the watchmaker Felix Chopin (1813-1892), a Frenchman living in Saint Petersburg. S. XIX. 43 x 18 x 35cm
