Large Louis XV period table clock made of mercury-gilt bronze.

It shows a bull and three ladies dressed in the classical manner. The watch rests on the animal''s back, flanked by the ladies. Profuse plant decoration, garlands and rockeries.

Porcelain dial with Roman numerals. Paris-type machinery with engraved initials and numbering. France, probably S. XIX.



*It represents the moment when Zeus, transformed into a bull, tries to kidnap Europa to take her to the Island of Crete. Moments before, several nymphs, impressed with the beauty of the animal, adorned it with garlands and flowers. 28" x 10" x 10"
