Flemish tapestry. Brussels, 16th C.

Important Flemish tapestry, Gobelin style. ffs. S. XVII - Pps. S. XVIII. Made of wool representing Lot with his daughters. A very recurring theme among painters of the 16th and 17th centuries such as Rubens, Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi, Tintoretto or Lucas Cranach the Elder.

In the central scene, Lot and his two daughters can be seen resting after their escape from Sodom, in a bucolic environment with abundant foliage. The border is richly decorated with floral motifs, roses and bows at the bottom. With restorations.
