Persian chlorite glass with eagles and snakes

"Persian chlorite vase with eagles and snakes, IV millennium BC". This glass represents the ancient civilization of Jiroft. Jiroft is a city, in the Kerman province, in Iran. The archaeological culture that developed in this place during the Bronze Age, that is to say 4000 BC, is called the Jiroft culture. C. This culture is characterized by chlorite objects decorated in the form of snakes, dragons or other mythological animals. Plant motifs were also used. Jiroft''s craftsmen had a unique style of naturalistic design. Chlorite is a stone similar to soapstone and soapstone. It is durable, yet soft enough to carve easily, and fine enough grain to hold carved details well. Its color ranges from jade green (which gives it its name) to smoky gray to obsidian-like black. This piece is decorated with the motif of an eagle fighting snakes.
