Go away. Greece Apulia 4th BC

Amphora with two facing vertical handles that descend from the neck towards the beginning of the globular body. Wide flared mouthpiece. Made with the technique of red figures that stands out for its ornamental pattern, collected in the body of the vessel. The foot presents a decoration based on bands, where black and red colors are combined, giving way to the body where the figurative scene presents on one of the sides the figure of a maenad holding a thyrsus and an ivy leaf that is arranged on the altar and on the other side the face of a “lady of fashion” dressed in richly ornamented sakkos, disc earrings and necklace. Both images are separated by large palmettes arranged under the handles. Neck decorated with long vertical lines and small palmettes at the top. Restorations and repainting on fracture lines from original fragments. Good general condition. Magna Graecia - Apulia. S. IV BC. 42.5 x 20 x 17cm
