Luristan bronze head ax

"Ax head from Luristan, 1000 BC". This four-pronged ax had to be one of the hardest and deadliest weapons in Luristan. The Luristan bronzes are one of the most impressive facets of the Persian Empire, their mastery and variety, as well as the good condition in which they have come down to us, have made them one of the archaeological evidence of this culture.

Very good condition conservation.

Provenance: English private collection, October, 2014.

Bibliography: Antiquities, London. Christie''s. 10/01/2014. Page 97, number 140. 20cm
