Linen Egyptian cover for Har-Pa-Jem

"Egyptian linen cover for Har-Pa-Jem ca. 664 BC - 200 AD (Late Period - Roman Period)". The ancient Egyptians believed in life after death. They thought that the soul of the deceased traveled to the Hereafter once his earthly days were over. When a person died in Ancient Egypt, their body was preserved through the process of mummification. But only the wealthiest Egyptians, in addition to the pharaoh and his family, could commission their mummification, since it was a very expensive process, as well as a long one: mummification took a total of 70 days to complete. The mummification process took place two or three days after death. This Late Period linen cover is handwritten in hieroglyphics for Har-Pa-Jem, son of Taamun. 26" x 2"
