"Egyptian linen cover for Har-Pa-Jem ca. 664 BC - 200 AD (Late Period - Roman Period)". In Ancient Egypt the body was taken to the embalmers, who worked on the banks of the Nile, since water is needed in abundance. The body was washed and the brain was extracted. Next, the internal organs: the stomach, intestines, lungs, and liver. They were wrapped in a linen cloth and placed inside the four canopic jars. The heart was left inside the body of the mummy because it should not be separated from its body, since it was the place where feelings, consciousness and life resided. This Late Period linen cover is handwritten in hieroglyphics for Har-Pa-Jem, son of Taamun.
