"Byzantium-Christian terracotta bowl of incantations, V - VIII AD". The enchantment or enchantment bowls are curious pieces that, although they were made in series, are difficult to see in a museum. They are structurally very simple pieces, made on a mould, in the shape of a bowl. Its realization is framed in the late Near East, especially in Babylonia and before the Arab invasion took place. They were common to the Jewish and Christian religions, but also to the pagans. The eagerness of these peoples to protect their homes and families led them to apotropaic conceptions like these. These bowls were inscribed with curses in Hebrew and Aramaic, usually in a continuous spiral, which aided in the capture of evil spirits. The bowls should always be deposited downwards, normally in the corners of the rooms, which is where they understood that the demons slipped into the home, in this way, they would be trapped by the labyrinthine curses and locked downwards. Egg shells were magically used to poison spirits as the fire produced life and the shell killed it. They really are unique and magical pieces that show us all the strength of pagan religious beliefs extended to monotheisms.
Very good state of conservation.
