One of the most amazing discoveries made by Eduardo Chillida took the form of Gravitations. The gravitations move away from the collage technique in its conception. To make it, Chillida cut out papers that he superimposed as a collage. However, in the place where the tail was before, it introduced the space. In the gravitations, the papers are attached to each other sewn by thread and hang on the wall. By their own weight the papers open allowing air to circulate between them. In this way it seems that they float weightlessly, hence the name of these works. The Gravitaciones were for the sculptor something like his "chamber music", performed in the privacy and tranquility of his studio, compared to monumental works such as those made in the Legazpi industrial forge where the sculptor assumed the role of orchestra director.
The work is registered in the archives of the Chillida-Leku Museum with the reference CH-96 GT-40. 49.5 x 46.5cm
