"Egyptian sculpture of male figure, Old Kingdom, 6th Dynasty". Statuette sculpted by recessing a limestone block from the interior lining of a mastaba, originally it must have been integrated into a group of several of them aligned in a frieze that represented the owner of the tomb. The fragmentation of the lower part of the legs, the erosion and the lack of paint are surely due to the action of water. The figurine represents a male character in a hieratic position, with his arms extended and fallen to the sides and his hands closed with the thumbs outstretched as a symbol of respect for the gods of the afterlife. The dress (she only wears the smooth, straight-cut skirt), and the (short) wig indicate that we are dealing with a character of a certain social rank, surely medium, since she lacks jewelry and profuse decoration. Its identity is indicated in a hieroglyphic inscription that it has engraved in a single vertical register on the right arm.
Good state of conservation.
