Egyptian wooden comb

"Egyptian wooden comb, 4th century BC: Coptic Period". For the care of natural hair and wigs, the Egyptians had instruments that, although they were rudimentary, perfectly fulfilled the function for which they were intended. Their combs were generally made of bone, ivory, or wood, and some were double, that is, with separate teeth for combing and untangling, and the others very thick. This makes us think of some combs that some people have seen in our homes in the past, and which received the curious name of "nits". And indeed they served to remove the nits attached to the hair. In the case of these Egyptian combs, their use could very well have been the same. Although to comb the natural hair they had to use combs with separate teeth. Let''s not forget that her natural hair was meant to be curly and separate spikes would pull less on the hair. Made of wood, we see a narrow comb with uneven spikes on both sides.
