Roman hekateion 2nd CAD

"Roman Hekateion, S. II AD". Hecate is a Greek goddess, patroness of the wild and protector of childbirth. She is a goddess of uncertain worship but revered in many areas of classical Greece, she is considered the daughter of Zeus. In its beginnings it was not represented triple, although this iconography soon began to be accepted in which some of its attributes are usually represented with a torch, a key or a snake. The three parts of Hecate are assimilated to her triformity, related to the moon, hell and the sea. She is also related to the darkness of the night and the moon, and she is usually represented wearing a peplos and her hair tied up.
