John of the Rose. handwritten poem

(Manuscript) ROSA, Juan de la.- Handwritten poem in eight stanzas of four verses each, signed at the end by the author. Juan de la Rosa González (1820 - 1886) was a Spanish poet, playwright and journalist. He obtained the position of librarian of San Isidro in Madrid, a position he held until 1875, the year in which he returned to his native Nava del Rey (Valladolid). He participated in the founding of the liberal newspaper La Iberia together with Pedro Calvo Asensio and Manuel de Llano y Persi. He wrote a lot of theater, alone and in collaboration with Calvo Asensio, Manuel Ruiz del Cerro and others. As a journalist, he devoted himself above all to literary criticism, particularly theatrical criticism, and to articles on customs. His poems, not collected, are scattered throughout the press of the time.
